TMI Foods, the cooked ingredients company, has developed its range of bacon pieces to span sizes from 10g sachets to 10 kilo bulk packs.
The company is the largest producer of cooked bacon pieces in the UK for food manufacturers, caterers, wholesalers, fast food outlets and the airline meals industry.
New production techniques have given the company portion control capability to pack a range of products from tiny sachets containing small pieces and lardons to larger catering bulk packs.
TMI Foods can produce chilled or frozen piece sizes to order, down to ⅛ of a rasher of streaky bacon, and at different cook levels. Light cook bacon pieces are supplied to manufacturers for food products which require re-heating such as quiches or pizzas, while darker cook versions, including crispy pieces, are ideal for use as salad toppings.
"These pieces represent an economic way of introducing a real bacon flavour to a prepared food product as an alternative to ham, which doesn't deliver the same flavour and distinctive texture as bacon," said TMI Foods' Managing Director David Abbott.
